So a little more than 20 years ago a friend in high school talked about mudding and introduced me to this mud. It was an amazing experience as I was really getting into D&D (2nd ed.) at the time as well. I ended up going to a different game and have been playing that on and off ever since.
Needless to say, I decided to poke my head in and WOW, I am impressed with how much seems to have changed. Honestly, I'm a little intimidated and feel like a complete n00b again.
I'm gonna try out the non-pk class and try and learn as much as I can. I would love any suggestions on a class for a first time player. I tend to lean more towards casters (I know Healer is a good choice, but I like a little more offense than defense) and was thinking maybe Invoker. Look forward to the feedback!

Welcome back! You might try Shaman, though I too am partial to Invokers.

invokers are probably my first choice for a returning/beginner player. The ability to sanctuary and word of recall, makes for a forgiving first try. They have very good damage so they are desired in most groups and anything they lack they can make up for with scrolls or staves

Wow, honestly didn't think anyone would. I had one duergar shaman I played FOREVER, but was pretty terrible at PK. Maybe all actually get a kill this go round

Regarding my above post and the Quote, it output my raw input but didn't link it properly to Davairus' post. Could someone clarify what is missing there?
