Human

Background

Humans are the most commonly found race in Serin, making up the majority of most adventurers. The race of man has roots that stretch back to the beginning of time itself and its history is rich and remarkable. Humans are known to excel at both writing and war, being the most articulate race there is. The kingdoms of men are not found in one single part of Serin but are found scattered all over, their mass concentrated around several hometowns. Because of both their versatility and their lust for knowledge of politics, humans are found in every guild. From minstrels to heroes to the worst of tyrants, there is no limit to what man can do well with his abilities, and he has more than enough ambition to do it. The race of man is flawed and impure, many of its line containing one critical weakness despite their superiority in many ways over other adventurers. Humans are driven by a want for power, and inevitably look to find ways to profit from situations. The want of man for gold and fame far outweighs anything else and if not careful will consume him and dominate his destiny. Some men have been known to incite world war simply because of the spoils it brings and boosts to economy.

Roleplaying

Elves are long friends of the race of humans, some of them known to have even married men and produced offspring with them, though seeing their mistakes over the ages has built up a degree of intolerance in the elders of the elves, and often on occassions have blows only been spared by the extraordinary calm temparement of the long-lived elven race. However this elven virtue is completely absent from the elves' dark cousins, the drow, who share the same disdain for them. Drows will often talk down upon men as if they were uncouth vermin, far far less intelligent than themselves.

Variants

Orc

Human Variant

Brutal and savage warriors with green skin and prominent tusks.

Background

Originally bred as shock troops in ancient wars, Orcs were twisted by dark magic and generations of brutal selective breeding. They now form warring tribes in the rugged badlands, valuing physical strength and combat prowess above all else. Though often seen as mere savages by civilized lands, they possess a deep, primal shamanic tradition and a strict code of honor bound by blood.

Roleplaying

Orcs are aggressive, blunt, and fiercely loyal to those who earn their respect. They have little patience for diplomacy or subtlety, preferring direct action. When roleplaying an Orc, lean into their gruff demeanor, respect for martial strength, and a surprisingly deep spiritual connection to their ancestors. They are quick to anger but also quick to forget a grudge once settled in combat.

Aasimar

Human Variant

Celestial descendants endowed with radiant energy and divine purpose.

Background

Aasimar are beings with a trace of celestial blood in their lineage, often manifesting generations after a divine ancestor. They are marked by subtle signs of their heritage—silver hair, golden eyes, or a faint, comforting aura. Driven by an innate sense of justice and righteousness, they often serve as paladins, clerics, or community leaders, bearing the heavy burden of their divine calling.

Roleplaying

Aasimar carry themselves with quiet dignity and an unwavering moral compass. They often struggle with the expectations placed upon them by both mortals and the divine. Roleplay an Aasimar as someone striving for perfection and justice, but occasionally burdened by the weight of their own righteousness. They are compassionate but uncompromising against true evil.

Tiefling

Human Variant

Fiendish bloodlines manifest in horns, tails, and a sinister aura.

Background

Bearing the unmistakable mark of a fiendish ancestor, Tieflings are mortals cursed with demonic or devilish features such as horns, tails, and unusual skin tones. Shunned and feared by most societies, they are forced to survive in the shadows, often resorting to thievery, dark magic, or mercenary work. Despite their heritage, they are not inherently evil and must constantly fight to define their own destiny.

Roleplaying

Tieflings are often cynical, untrusting, and self-reliant, accustomed to facing prejudice at every turn. They use their intimidating appearance to their advantage but fiercely protect the few who show them genuine acceptance. When roleplaying a Tiefling, embrace a survivalist mentality, a sharp wit, and a hidden vulnerability beneath a tough exterior.
