This is going to be up to the Warlords to initiate, help recruit, and start. You'll need to be level 50 to enter the tournament and there are 8 positions available. I'm anticipating they'll do this once per quarter.
Also just remember this is the first tournament and it may not be entirely buttoned up on the coding side and ease-of-use, but Imms can help assist if anything goes wrong with it.
'CRACKED SKULL TOURNAMENT'
The cracked skull tournament is hosted once per quarter (four times per
year) by the Warlord cabal. This is an eight man no-holds-barred lethal
tournament in the Seringale arena. The tournament rules are simple. Two
must enter the arena, one must leave. They may leave either by death or by
fleeing the arena to throw the duel (i.e. forfeiting).
To join the cracked skull tournament, speak to a Warlord. Only pinnacled
players may currently enter the tournament. Warlords have the ability to
pick who may participate, as well as disqualify people during the
tournament, and name replacements. Note that a disqualification will not
overturn any results, and no substitutions are allowed for the main event of
the tournament.
The signups phase remains open until a Warlord starts the tournament. Once
the tournament is started, each combatant will have their opponent for that
round assigned via an algorithm, based upon the rating of the players.
Once the tournament is underway, you may then challenge your chosen opponent
at the arena entrance. The syntax for that is: challenge <opponent>
tournament
Use the items on sale at the Juggernaut to mould the arena into the area YOU
want. If you and your opponent cannot agree on the zone, the Warlords will
choose it for you. The winner of the Cracked Skull Tournament will receive
the title of Skullbuster, and they may keep it until the tournament
determines a new champion.
so it's an 8 man single elimination style bracket tournament? What if there's more than 8 that want to enter?
Sounds super sweet. Great move Dav

Thank you, hamsamwich, that is the kinda question I want to hear. Straight into details. The "final eight" format was entirely Lorne's decision, and that is absolutely final.
Remember there is a sign-up period though. If the tournament hasn't been officially started yet, I don't see why you couldn't still challenge someone for their spot in the tournament. It'll be entirely up to the Warlords to decide that starting lineup, and not to mention promote and invite others to the tourney, which opens some RP opportunity.

I'm big hyped for this. Not to participate, but will definitely be a great watch. I could wish for like, a viewer stand, otherwise I anticipate the entrance to the arena being BIG swamped, which admittedly, would be awesome too. :D

Viewer stand would be neat. One thing I'm thinking of is if there's a large crowd, you're going to get one asshole going in and fireballing.
So an idea for how to encourage spectators:
each temple in seringale has the upstairs room become a viewing area.
a guild guardian-type mob stands guard below.
This way, if you just want to watch without a huge fear of pk, you just log on your lightwalker and chill with the other lightwalkers in your temple. If you're an evil character, you're going to be exposed either at the arena or at your temple.
Also, if a group of evils wants to raid the lightwalker viewing party, they could do that too.

Why not just ask a Justice to stand by? I can make some bleachers.
Another idea could be, make an actual stadium/viewing area where you buy tickets to enter. Juggernaut will broadcast in the viewing area rather than at the door.

OMGEEEE I need a 50.
Oh, how does EQ / weapons work for this? Are we matching all competitors up with the same suit to level the playing field or do they come as is with the eq they have?

Love the idea of a standard set of eq. Each guy could maybe get 3 weapons out of a huge selection too.
