Hey folks,
I'm experienced player but I'm new here.
1. Are druids a viable choice for a new player?
2. What about shadows? Is the ki that complicated?
3. How are invokers in PvE? They seem like a potential choice for a new player.
Thanks

1. Druids are a very survivable class, but they're complex. Not my recommendation for beginning. I'd go with warrior, healer, invoker, shaman maybe.
2. Shadows are fine. Not very complicated, and no, ki isn't that complex once you start seeing it work.
3. Invokers are awesome. Very self-reliant, various shields make them hardy against a lot of mobs solo, as well as great group mates. Just watch sanctuary and shields falling, test your boundaries on mystic tendrils so you don't kill your self, etc.
Try 'em all! Good luck!

Any class with detect invis and sanctuary is a pretty good bet for newbies.

Sanc is easy to get. There are only a zillion initial quests that send you to get purples. And I think they're in the same spot they were 20 years ago when I played.
My biggest concerns are equipment reliance and acquisition. I've seen some low-level characters really smashing things (like DISMEMBERS in Emerald at level 8 ). I'm struggling to even get passable gear. Should I be looking at rangers? Necros? Pets and crafting can go a long way.

Make a good align character for request. Pally seems good right now. 5-6 hour sanc is much better than a 1-2 hour sanc. Quests lead you to a decent starter set. Necro is actually one of the harder classes to play and super weak early on. Ranger is a solid choice for starting but then you dont have built in sanc and detect invis.

If you're into exploring, healer is a great starter class because it is super sustainable. Free food, water, flight, detects, sanc, locate, identify, cures, word of recall to get you out of tight spots. Being good-aligned means you automatically have some friends and also can request items as Ashlyn mentioned.

I am gonna have to disagree on the necro being hard to start with, or being complex. Raise skeleton is rank 1? (One can raise up to five levels over their own.) Also, get summon later, so dont even have to "go get" purples. Reaping weapons, and rend are awesome, plus when you get vamp and siphon soul, you should be able to be unstoppable. Plus anything can get 22-35 with monster pots. Just saying. Plus, little known secret....human necro is 0 exp hole!

What are monster potions? Seen them mentioned but haven't seen any in my range.

Seek Jemira in Timiran upon your 22nd rank. You will be glad you did.
