Series of how-to videos for AR/mudding

Hi guys! We've made some technological advancements over here in the marketing division.

I'm able to record mushclient and a video (like streamers) and post it to youtube.

What I envision is a library of short 'how to' videos in regards to mudding/AR.

They can be as basic as 'most common commands' or as in-depth as 'how to anticipate where your enemy is going to run to'.

It's impossible to think of everything so hit me with some ideas of what you guys would like to see. There's a million things we could do so let's throw them all out there and then we could prioritize (like obv the newbie stuff would be way more important than advanced PK).

Some things I have in mind:

What is a MUD/how do you log in/do other people play/is it free

How do you create a character?

What do you do once in game? most basic commands - such as the ones listed in help newbie

How do you communicate? say, yell, tell, gt, whisper, newbie

How do you kill things? kill/consider/flee

How do you manage your inventory and change your equipment?

How do you find someone? where/scan

How do you get better at abilities? automatic/spam/training

How do you make a description/background?

How do you pk? Basic edition - murder/where/scan/abilities

How do you survive PK? purple potion/recall potion/raft/know a route

Keep in mind, most of the people who play MUDs have also played text adventures before MUDs... Anyone with a light background in games like Zork doesn't need to know about movement commands because they're self-evident. Knowing that it's real-time (though that is generally evident once you play the game) is more important, as is knowing about the important commands in the game and some of the nuances (if you've only played the original Zork trilogy you've not yet dealt with hunger or thirst in such a setting... But games like Enchanter, Planetfall, or Stationfall all get people used to paying attention to that).

@widow - the idea was to also help people who stumble into AR that have never mudded before. It might not be intuitive to type 'help' or to even know what to do. Also something as easy as saying 'type where to see who is in the area around you' might not be obvious as I've played other muds where that function is carried out with who -z.

For newbies, show which stats to max as you roll a character. Show how to gear up to max stats immediately.

Show gearing up with the goblins and the common early transitions like mithril.

For mid tier players nothing is more valuable than seeing elite PK and verbally describing what you're doing and why. Not just what you're doing but what you're not doing. I still remember seeing a vet PK live for the first time and I realized I was playing a totally different game. It's really not different than something like Starcraft 2 streaming. The useful part isn't what the game is. It's the narration of the decision making, situational assessment, and lexicon like knowledge of what everybody can do.

No, it's easy stop playing healers. You kill people just fine with monks :D
