New Area/Different Concept

What if we created a new area that had an inaccessible entrance 99% of the time. This entrance could either be in a fixed location, or it could a portal that spawns in random locations. RP/IC this may only appear once the stars align, or certain conditions are met. In this area, there would be equipment that is typically easier to acquire (relative to its value) than most other areas, since you were lucky enough to gain access in the first place. During surges, the chances of the area being accessible are heightened, but far from guaranteed. For starters, let us suppose that accessibility may vary from 0 - 2 occasions per week, for the duration of 30 minutes. Once in the area, you can leave, but can't return if the entrance is no more.

With all the talk of how to regulate limited equipment lately, this could not only provide us with some fun new options, but hopefully offset some of the current problems by a tad.

Sounds fun! An area with one or multiple fixed locations to enter it that appear on a timed interval. A floating balloon that goes around the realms, drops a ladder for x amount of ticks where you can climb and access the balloon (area). You xp/gear in relative safety until the next stop. Then the ladder is a bottleneck for getting off/setting traps. You could stay on or wait for the next stop.

This quite nearly exists already.

There is an airship that is appears occasionally and you can climb up its rope ladder and pilot it to different unseen lands. It's a part of some of Avenar's events.

I always thought it would be cool if it was permanently there on a slow loop.

Do you remember the quicksand secret? Kind of like tolling down the hill in a ball secret in Orcish Mountains, you had to sit there forever until it happened. I once had an area I built that was an "underground lake". Do you guys remember the scene in LoTR where gandalf and the balrog were falling, and they fell to an underground lake? That was the inspiration.

There were cavern (mine-like) passages that led out from the lake, but 70% of the area was water. I wanted to tie in some event to the passages, I think there were 3 and they were similar to the pathways to Kanata and the others, just a LOT longer

There was also a crazy old man who rarely appeared on a raft floating around who sold unique pets kind of like how they used to put special pets at that herald place in seringale during holidays
