Ok, so I know we have crafting available for some good daggers, and some fantastic heavy armor. Can we get crafting for light/medium armor, too? As it is, the only option for light armor users that aren't rare items are gambled items. I have no issue gambling, but I'd like to wear some leather or some shit that I made myself.

Yes, I've been trying to come up with one. Here is where I got. I don't feel is it good enough for AR yet so have it with improvement suggestions
---
Begin around level 30 with basic studded leather patterns that are readily useable at Anga with no exploring needed:
-> hats, boots, belts, leggings, sleeves, gloves.
-> collect a hide, in this case it would be from some skinning of a decent beast from the ford (assuming it has any beasts)
-> cut the hide into the right shape (guess we can spam "snip/buffet" on our six patterns above. there is only 6 so combinations of four is plenty)
-> that will create a "medium hide gloves" / "light hide gloves" based on what was skinned
-> after that, you get some nice studs to add damroll
-> go to anga, put the studs, tempered animal hide, on the station, then pay fee to "craft studded gloves"
result = studded leather gloves
- repeat this pattern for other stats. finishing touches would be dyes, studs (prefixes) and/or etchings (suffixes).
- no extra stuff to this.
Certain mobs will have noteworthy rare hides. these do not require studs or dyes, you just have to cut the shape you want,
add a druid shard if you want a tier increase (from tier 2 to tier 3). That is after you explore to find and learn the pattern.
-> the tyrant of the serpents (maybe not this one?)
-> ysbtchila (hp)
-> darkenbeast (saves)
-> elder dragons (??)
-> the great sea dragon of the deep (damroll)
Tier of the resulting hide will depend on the mob.
Getting one of these hides allows the player to attempt to craft an epic leatherworking item.
better druid shard = better chance of 3 damroll. bonus caps at 3 damroll for leather shit.
todo:
-> look at stuff druids can charm and make sure we have light/medium leather options from these
-> make/place patterns in out of the way places

Does the Ford have to be the only area you can collect skins from? Mt. Ranier has some beasts that range from lvl 25-45 that might be another good area for collecting hides.

My thought was that it'd be a near replication of forging armor, except instead of ingots, you'd kill some tough monsters for their skin and make something cool out of it. The skin could be similar level to the creature and only certain creatures could be skinnable. So you skin your creature then cure/tan and then snip/buffet. You'd need more than one skin, and obviously a pattern of some kind. This could be learned like the forging or it could be purchased/discovered.
I like the idea of adding studs and other things to it to create the prefix/suffix.
The same thing could be done for tailoring. Admittedly, I've been out of touch for a while, and I noticed there are some crafting options, so if I say something that has already been implemented, just let me know.
What I don't agree with in your above post is having the skins be rare. That doesn't make sense to me, as the creature itself is covered in it. Just make the skinning a skill-check like fishing or cooking. If you mistime it, destroyed /lesser quality skin. All the skins need to be the same. Different animal skins could also provide the prefix, like dragonhide could provide magical armor and damage but theyre harder to skin, wyvernhide hitroll etc...
(I like the idea of skinning your opponents and making a pair of human-skin/slith/jagar boots or vest.)

OK - if you dont know what has been already been implemented then read the helpfile "crafting" and properly educate yourself. It is all there. In fact we already have leatherworking, and for a very long time. I was talking about a potential upgrade because its lousy atm.
