Unique titles should be prolific

What is going on with unique titles?

I've held my tongue on this for a long time. It's actively annoying and a huge turn off to the game. Unique titles add flavor and are super fun. Why are they so randomly given out? Why does every faction head not have one? Why have I seen cabaled vets like Lionspyre say they hope they might get one on this character who is HoE bound?

I just asked an out of game discord chat if Ractor was acting head of Legion and it struck me how insane this is. That's not an option open to many players. What are we doing here?

It's fun. Deal them out. How can every warlord have one and the current warlord leader have 3 and nobody else? I really really don't like it.

It's weird. It feels like an impenetrable old boys club and I do not like it.

Showing dedication to a patron or a cabal seems like a good way to get a title. Sometimes it also helps to ask if you think you have done something worthy of one. People tend to feel frustrated by subjective things, titles being very subjective. Cabal leaders for the most part have grinded out the time and effort and/or displayed the skill and acumen necessary to get that post and if nothing else have earned a title. Others have done so through their consistent roleplay and longevity.

This thread reminds me of a movie I watched, I think Jack Nicholson says it - he doesn't want to be the product of his environment, he wants the environment to be the product of him. So. With titles, there isn't an unfair process and it needn't be frustrating. You just need to communicate. Tell the imms what you are looking for and maybe ask (nicely) what you need to do to earn it. Don't bottle it up for years until you're at the end of your rope.

Ractor isn't even Forsaken. He uses the Sceptre of Might as his light instead of the Doom-Weaver of Legion which I saw on people like Valox, Mkatos, Kryton, Zyron, etc. when they were Forsaken (the light comes with the position). Plus, I'm pretty sure there would've been a recruitment note from Legion if he had been given the reins since most cabal leaders do that as soon they get it initially.

Just to maybe help you feel better Scrynor, I want to say that I have often felt the exact same way. So you can feel at least a little bit vindicated.

Like part of me thinks them being uncommon is good, because it makes them that much more special, but at the same time it makes me just a tiny bit irked when people get them really quick and after what my incomplete and imperfect perception deems to be very little to warrant them.

I also, just as a personality flaw maybe, feel like asking for them is wrong and in poor taste, but I guess that's not true, so maybe I'm the one that needs to change.

And yeah they've always seemed much more common on Warlords, which made me feel like I had done something wrong cause Thoom never got one. But that's old stuff now and I've healed. hahaha

Maybe Davairus just grants custom titles more than other Immortals? Two of the times I've had different titles I know who gave me the title (Ceridwel was involved in one case, Vanisse in the other), but the last case I can recall immediately, I don't know who was behind that decision. And the characters I recall with different titles were two Mystics and one Herald in the time which I all played before the Consortium came into being.

I think every character should have a chance to buy their own unique title for some sort of currency or token at level 50. A one time purchase per character. Obviously if it violates any rules an IMM will wreck them and they get the default title.

We had a system like that at one time, in fact its how I got my first custom title. Someone abused it and it got removed if i remember right.

A title like Fawneria's title can't be bought.

I've had plenty of custom titles and I'm def. not part of the club.

Just gotta do something impactful for your religion/cabal imm to take notice, I guess. Mediocre deeds demand mediocre titles.

Should start doing titles of shame for the PK avoiders-quitters also though ;)
