Consortium Redux

Recently, a new update went live that reworks much of the Consortium powers. This significant update aims to solve three key issues with Consortium powers which include the abilities granted to the Herald, Mystic, and Scholar coteries.

First, many of the powers were convoluted in how they were named. In some cases, the power used a differently named command to use the power and this would also apply effects with yet another different name. We have aimed to clean up many of these skills by renaming them or logically grouping them together so they are easier to learn and use.

Second, the method for acquiring powers was unclear. Previously, powers were tied to the pillars that a member dedicated to study. There was no available documentation as to what powers would be received based on the pillars they selected. While this was done intentionally to preserve some mystery and promote discovery, it caused issues with players being confused when they had different powers from other Consortium members. The new system more intuitively ties powers to the coterie selection of Herald, Mystic, or Scholar. Each coterie has some powers in common while other powers are unique to that specific coterie. The separation of pillar choice and coterie choice also means players may dedicate to any three pillars they wish and then choose any of the three coteries. This opens up new character and roleplay options for Consortium players.

Finally, some of the Consortium powers were not particularly useful. They required very niche situations which simply didn't come up often. Several powers have been removed with brand new ones taking their place. The new powers aim to be far more useful to players who choose the Consortium path, especially in group PvE, where members may be fighting the most legendary of Serin's monsters.

In the spirit of preserving some mystery (since these are coterie powers) we will list the names of the powers that are new, have changed, or have been removed. However, you will have to discover which coterie wields them and exactly what they might do!

General

In addition to these changes in powers, the Consortium is also altering their membership behavior guidelines. Members are expected not to proactively pursue killing other players. While PKing is not banned as an activity, it should be done in self defense or in defense of allies or other members of the Consortium. These powers should be used to defend Serin and its knowledge rather than support blatant aggression.

We hope these changes encourage more player interaction, roleplay, and adventuring across Serin!
