So, the idea for this thread is to see who's still here from the first age or shortly after the purge. If you can't remember at least Riven then this isn't the thread for you. I would really like you to post whether you still play or not, if you're just passing through or lurking on the boards, that's enough. This thread is just about memories, so lets just put any bad feelings or whatevers aside, drop a name in and say hey I played AR. I don't care what's happened since. Trust me, no matter what, I would much rather you post and give some love for here than not do it. Lets just show respects for the monster pk rampage game we played together back then.

I was introduced to AR in 98 by a friend. Only one caballed character before purge - Cleopatra Clitorus, storm pali knight. Oh to be young again...

I was here during the second age. Maybe 2 years before the purge (?). I just recently started playing again. its been a couple years since I last played. Only possibly known character I had was my warlord Lorn.

I feel so young. I started when Sethanon and Naugroth were assraping people. AR was still on Kharduin, but it was post purge I think. So I guess I shouldnt even be posting!

I was here pre-purge. 97 or 98, not sure. No cabal chars. Drizztt a drow cleric. Think I only made it to 46 with him, never pinnacled. And a ninja that was SOO much fun attempting to assassinate people. Took a 10 year break and found you guys still here. Active since I returned, most of that time atleast.

I started playing in, I believe, 1997 as that was 8th grade for me.

Phostan forced me to try AR in grade 10 - 1997? I was a complete noob in first age, the highest char I had was a level 36 dark knight named Lucavi. I had a lot of fun charming people and making them attack the priest of darkness but I died a hell of a lot more than I killed. I remember a lot of big scary guys running through town fighting all the time: Orcrist, Coven, Sedgewick, lots more I can't remember.

BTW Res I'm like 80% sure Sethanon was after the purge, wasn't he?

I started playing in 98 or 99 during my cancer treatments stopped playing for 3 years came back left for another 1 and a half and now im back. No really good characters dont think i ever made it past 36 back in the day.

I was introduced to AR in '99. I never had any notable players but I've been hooked since then. Even after lengthy breaks, I cant stop reading the boards and then get sucked back in.

I can't remember exactly when I started playing. My first character was Vixen, some slith warrior who sucked ballsack. My most memorable sight was Sethanon and my most memorable characters were Vaargus and Arishel. I remember fighting Resatimm with my Avian Knight Healer...Yeah, that was fun Res. Stupid avian healers...Lol. That is why there are none around. Mal weakness sucks, Lol.

My most memorable experience was when I had Duriel a duergar warrior and a halfling thief that began with an M (I think) tried to backstab me and I countered for UNSPEAKABLE THINGS. I was devoted after that, and I'm still here. Quit for 2 years, but came back and I've been loving and missing it ever since.

I had my first rank 50 at the time Resatimm was raping people, duergar shaman and Resatimm was asking me for aura often. I myself had very little clue.

I love this game, wish I had time to get back in it (Although, I like my stage 7 status). I'll be lurking around in the forum and chatroom. Long live AR.

'98 - Might the Storm Paladin killing cityguard heads in the mob factory 4 life.

I think it took me 4 years before I hit 50... stupid rage deleting.

I don't even remember the year I started was a long ass time ago though that's for sure. The mob factory was the shit though, haha.

I'm not certain what year I started playing but I think it was most likely after the purge, been at least 11 or 12 years anyway...

My first character was some god awful monk who's name I cant remember and who got pk'd by anybody invis because i didnt know where to get clear potions. My first caballed character was a Herald bard called Bulan, my first 50 too - next caballed guy was Kran a psi legion guy.

Was fun as hell, AR has given me lots of fun times

My first character was a human invoker named Alaga. Got him up to 37 if I remember correctly. Was introduced to AR back in 97 in my Information Technologies class by a group of friends that played. Sadly out of 12 friends only two of us still play. We would have mud parties and shit oh it was fun as fuck lol.

I started in 98 with a human shaman, ranked to 50 and got owned alot. I loved the harm spam it was so cheese!

I was watching TV one day when my brother (Bucky) said hey let's play this game it looks cool and I was hooked ever since =(.

I started playing in early 98. Stone warrior, don't remember the name. I thought eagle armor was the best ever. First 50 was Wedge Antillies, human paladin. Then the purge happened and I played through that. Took a long break through 2002-2005ish cause I was in the Marine Corps with little internet access.

Joined in '98(just prior to the beginning of grade 9). Since Kalist is retarded and can't do simple math, he was in grade 10 during the 99-'00 season.

Lets see..Started college in 95-96. Discovered AR around 96-97, 98 at the latest.

Started playin in 98... I failed and still fail. Quit for a couple years and came back. Always sucks you back in. Never really had anything amazing when I first started, second time around I did a little better. Had more than just one 50 around... Then the third time is where we are at a few years ago to this present time, where I started to actually join Cabals and such. Oh and I fail at that too.

This doesn't apply to me I started playing in '02

I'm not an active player -at least I haven't logged on for 5 years or so - but I'm up late and wondered if AR was still around.

I can't remember what year I started but I think the Justice cabal had just been created. I had numerous characters which represent a rediculous amount of my life over the years: Elnino, Sedgwick, Orcrist, Jerold, Morissa, Ghak, Illyasha, Renzel...to name a few. I can't remember them all. I think I ranked every class to 50 at some point. I led the Legion, Justice, and Mystic cabals and spent a very brief time as an ineffective immortal (Latesh I think).

At any rate, it's nice to see other people are still around. Maybe I'll log on again and take a spin around the block. I have no clue how to make a stat roller so that hasn't changed...

Been playing a very long time, don't remember exactly when but Probably late 90's, 98 99. Stopped in 2003 through 2007 then came back to a completely different game and I have been re-learning and stuff since. I enjoyed playing in Legion, not so much in Knights even less in Keepers. Maybe someday I will make it back from one more push in Legion but until I get the time to do so, I just play random chars.

Wow Assssssyndic! Long time!

Didn't make that big of an impact when I played. Sometime in 2006-2007 or so.

A friend of mine got me started again. Glad this place is still around. Lots of changes since last, including necromancers losing a few things/gaining a few things, but it's all good.

Yeah it has Res. I keep thinking about installing Zmud and giving it a whirl again. However, my eye hand coordination keeps getting slower as I get older.

Personally I'm waiting until Diablo 3 comes out and talking Dav into going battlenet crazy again.

Hah waiting for D3 too. Just camp the IRC til I show up when it comes out. I'll probably preorder it.

D3 probably wont be out till holidays. who knows how true this link is.

When was the so called purge? do i remember the right event? I first saw this game when everyone coulda had free level 50 + cabal:P Druids spamming tornadoes at market square and me hunting for hell-blade (most powerful item known to man for my newb perspective) for hours:P No clue when it coulda been xD A while ago definetly!

'97, I think. I had a character right before the purge and then the game went offline for a while. I didn't know why and didn't know about forums at the time. Started again a couple months into the new-age when a friend told me the game was still up.

I've been here since just before the end of the first age. I remember Coven playing as a storm giant paladin and owning. I also remember that in the first age the naming policy was not enforced very rigidly. Specifically I remember a legion named Blackstaff and a fairly bad-ass ranger named Woodchuck, both of whom hit level 50.

Also, charm was a hilariously overpowered skill for illusionists.

I was pre-purge. Still swing by the forums occasionally to see what's happening :)

Yes, I'm THAT Neonin, the one who was/is running around Seringale as an NPC getting himself ass-raped.

Played no real notable characters except for that and a short-lived Knight by the name of Teran. Had a couple of Imms, built Timaran... Ahh, good times. I look back at the stuff some of us used to get up to and the arguments etc and it just seems so horribly childish now lol.

I may just pop in, but I haven't played a text-based MUD in years... Still, might be nice to see how things are these days.

It was probably around... 98-99 I started playing, my friend and his brother showed me the game and his brother gave me a ninja named Melchior. I had no clue as to what was happening at all, didn't have any memorable chars but I do remember making a bunch of mino zerkers cuz I thought they owned. Went by the name of Holtaire for a while, then Namehtnayr. Been around ever since on and off, I just can't get away...

Holtaire and Melchior seems familiar to me. Was Holtaire in a cabal?

No, Holtaire wasn't in a cabal. He was around a bit, but because I was still relatively new to the realms, he was kind of my trash char lol. I've learned not to be like that though, it's quite annoying when everyone hates you hahaha.

My first character I think I was ~10. I didn't know how to do anything but walk around Seringale sacrificing banners. I think I collected at least a million gold. I started playing for real when warlords were still around. I had a 50 ninja, Amos. I remember dueling Kaunturon and Nagrok around that time. Also I remember that event where everyone was lvl 50. Then I quit for a while and came back and played as Caeleth and back then the only names I remember are Olyn, and Bamache and Quincera. Recently started tinkering around again : ). But I am as awful as ever.

I'm trying to remember when that was.. (I played Quincera)

Anyway.. I found this game in 03'.. I was 16-17. Laive (Elf ranger who sucked uber hard) was my first char ..big surprise? I tried a few other characters ..even got made a perma-squire from Imm Solominus or whatever his name was cuz I sucked so hard. Then I read "MeteoFist's Guide on how to kick ass with a ranger" and turned things around.. then Dav/Burz changed combat modules lol

I recognize Hrimoyan too (well the picture gives it away), a ranger! I had some rough battles with Quincera and Bamache I would guess it was around 07' 08'. I think I killed you and him each once but died about 100 times to each of you lol.

Meteofist is who showed me ar way back when... We went to college together.

I first started playing around 99 I think. Not entirely sure.
Only character I had was Ash. I only got to level 46 storm giant I believe but was a fun time. Journey well great samuraii.

Some of you may remember my characters - Coven, Sethanon, Aelseran, Avindus, Vandit, several others I don't remember. I spent most of my time between 1998 and 2003 playing AR. It was my obsession. AR didn't cross my mind for ten plus years, and then out of the blue on a vacation back home I wondered if AR was still around and I came searching.

I'm filled with nostalgia just thinking about all the unlocked memories. I was just a freshman in college when I started. During that time I made some great friends I lost contact with. Made some critics. Some were deserved. Got banned. Came back. Using my new found web application creating skills I made a website called thk. that was the database for all the items in AR. Became an IMP because I knew Odoacer in real life and he wanted out. Made a few dungeons. Tweaked some code. Met a few people IRL. Named a few things, such as Mocker's Tavern. Made Davairus an immortal and disappeared.

To all the friends I've made, I hope you are well and I hope hear from you. We had a lot of fun in the game and on IRC. To all the critics, please forgive me for I was young and immature. I've since become a father, husband, live in Atlanta and work in corporate.

AR will always be a special place for me. You can't spend that much time and not have an impact. Thanks to everyone here and gone for making it fun.

Totally recognize a lot of those really oldie characters. I also started playing when I was like 11. Kento, Theoric, Gaelyn. Tons of great times.

Dang a lot of old timers on here. (joke about high school / senior home mudding, "No, sir, we updated the description editor in 2035Q1")
